2026 Harvest Update

Taking a look at the 2026 grain harvest in Ukraine.

2026 Harvest Update

With September upon us and harvest season in full swing, we wanted to take a quick moment to talk about the 2026 barley & wheat crops coming out of Ukraine that make Sky Malt so good for brewers.

The quality of Ukrainian barley continues to soar year-after-year and the 2026 harvest shows some of the highest specs seen recently. We also saw the crop increase to over 1.4m hectares across the various growing regions of Ukraine, with an annual increase of ~8%. This was largely driven by favourable growing conditions through the season, but also an increase in planted land, spearheaded by five major regions:

• Ternopil Region: 7.03 t/ha
• Khmelnytskyi Region: 6.99 t/ha
• Lviv Region: 6.7 t/ha
• Cherkasy Region: 6.49 t/ha
• Ivano-Frankivsk Region: 6.42 t/ha

These growing conditions and expanding acreage, combined with growing experience in the fields have cemented Ukraine as one of the premier barley growing destinations.

Wheat also had a very strong year, especially in the southern part of the country, with the Cherkasy Region delivering the top average yield per hectare. Early harvest data for both barley and wheat is exceeding the 2025 crop in both quality points and yield, the perfect combination, and is giving us something to be truly excited about.
