Hygiena AquaSnap Total ATP tests are rapid liquid hygiene verification devices designed specifically for testing CIP rinse water, process water, and other liquid samples within brewery and beverage production environments. Used alongside compatible Hygiena luminometers, they provide immediate measurement of organic contamination levels in water systems, helping breweries verify cleaning effectiveness before equipment is returned to production.

AquaSnap Total works by detecting adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy molecule present in microorganisms, organic residue, and all living cells. Unlike surface ATP swabs, AquaSnap is designed specifically for liquid sampling and measures both free ATP dissolved in solution and microbial ATP associated with cells and particulate matter. After collecting a consistent liquid sample using the integrated honey-dipper collection tip, the device is activated to release a liquid-stable bioluminescent reagent that reacts with any ATP present. The reaction produces light, which is measured by a luminometer and reported in Relative Light Units (RLU) within approximately 15 seconds. Higher readings indicate increased contamination from yeast, sugars, product residue, microbial activity, or biofilm within the sampled liquid, while lower readings indicate effective cleaning and rinsing performance.

For breweries, AquaSnap Total is particularly valuable for validating CIP cycles and monitoring final rinse water quality after cleaning tanks, pipework, heat exchangers, fillers, and packaging systems. It allows quality teams to rapidly identify residual organic contamination remaining within liquid systems before production restarts, helping prevent cross-contamination and product spoilage. The consistent sampling system and sanitizer-tolerant liquid-stable chemistry provide repeatable and reliable results even in demanding brewery environments. AquaSnap Total can also be used alongside AquaSnap Free to help distinguish between microbial ATP and dissolved organic residue during troubleshooting and hygiene investigations. While it does not replace microbiological laboratory testing, AquaSnap Total provides a fast and practical first-line verification tool for supporting HACCP compliance, improving CIP validation, and reducing production risk.
