Glycol (MPG) is a food grade monopropylene glycol supplied for use as a heat transfer fluid in brewery chiller systems, glycol jackets, fermentation cooling lines, and process refrigeration. It is the standard choice for cooling applications in food and beverage environments where any risk of incidental contact with product must be eliminated.

This product works by lowering the freezing point of water in the cooling loop, allowing brewery refrigeration systems to operate at temperatures well below 0°C without risk of freezing or damage to chillers, plate heat exchangers, or jacketed vessels. Compared to monoethylene glycol, MPG offers significantly lower toxicity, making it suitable for use in any system where there is a possibility of incidental food contact, such as cooling coils on conditioning tanks or wort chillers. It also provides effective protection against scale and corrosion when used at appropriate concentrations, supporting long-term system performance.

Glycol (MPG) is supplied as a concentrated product to be diluted with water to the required concentration. As a guide, a minimum 25–30% concentration by volume is recommended to ensure effective freeze protection, corrosion control, and biological stability of the fluid. Higher concentrations are required where greater freeze protection is needed. As with any heat transfer fluid, regular monitoring of concentration and condition is recommended to maintain system performance over time.
