pH Test Strips are simple, single-use indicator strips designed for the rapid verification of pH across brewing applications. They provide a practical, low-cost option for routine pH monitoring throughout the brewing process, from liquor treatment through mash, wort, and finished beer, complementing or providing a backup to laboratory pH meters.

These test strips work by reacting with hydrogen ions in solution to produce a colour change on the indicator pad, which is matched to a printed reference chart to determine pH. The non-bleed format means the indicator dye remains on the pad rather than leaching into the sample, giving cleaner colour development and clearer reading against coloured liquids such as wort and beer. Results are typically available within 10-15 seconds, allowing brewers to make immediate decisions on acid additions, salt additions, or process adjustments.

pH plays a central role in brewing quality. Mash pH directly affects enzyme activity, conversion, and the flavour profile of the finished beer, with most brewers targeting 5.2-5.6 at room temperature. Wort pH influences hot break formation, hop utilisation, and protein coagulation, while final beer pH affects flavour stability, microbial stability, and shelf life. Test strips provide a quick check at any of these points, particularly useful for breweries without permanent inline pH monitoring or as a sanity check against meter readings. Each pack contains 100 strips for routine, repeat use across the production cycle.
