Kettle Finings
Sky Granules
Sky Granules are carrageenan kettle finings for breweries, added during wort boiling to improve protein removal and hot break formation. The granular format allows accurate weighed dosing while supporting improved clarity, filterability, and beer stability.
Sky Granules are kettle finings produced from partially refined carrageenan, a natural polysaccharide derived from seaweed, presented in granule form. They are designed for direct addition to the brewing kettle in the final stages of the boil to assist with the removal of haze-active proteins.
This product works by binding to haze-forming proteins in the hot wort, encouraging a well-defined hot break and significantly reducing protein carryover into fermentation. Benefits include improved yeast vitality, reduced downstream processing time, energy and cost savings, better filterability, and a positive contribution to the colloidal stability and shelf life of the finished beer.
Sky Granules are well suited to breweries with established weighing equipment or higher-volume requirements, where granular form allows for accurate weighed-out dosing. They contain the same active material as Sky Tabs in a format optimised for larger-scale operations. Dosage rates should be reviewed regularly, especially after receiving new season malt where protein levels may differ between harvests.
