Silica Sol Finings
SkySol
SkySol is a highly concentrated silica sol solution and a vegan alternative to isinglass finings. It binds haze-forming proteins and yeast, accelerating sedimentation to deliver brighter beer, faster clarification, and a compact sediment that minimises beer losses on transfer.
SkySol is a highly concentrated liquid silica sol developed for use as a vegan-friendly fining agent in brewing and beverage clarification. It is designed to remove haze-active proteins and yeast cells from beer, delivering improved clarity, reduced conditioning time, and consistent finished product quality.
This product works by binding to negatively and positively charged haze-forming particles, increasing their effective size and accelerating their sedimentation. The result is a compact, stable sediment, brighter beer, and reduced losses on racking or filtration. Effective at low addition rates, SkySol can be applied either at whirlpool to clarify wort or at the end of fermentation to clarify beer, with no flavour impact at recommended dosages.
SkySol is suitable for breweries seeking a vegan and allergen-free alternative to traditional animal-derived finings such as isinglass. Supplied as a ready-to-use liquid, it is straightforward to dose in line during transfer and integrates easily into existing processes.
SkySol is suitable for:
- Wort clarification at whirlpool
- Beer clarification at the end of fermentation
- Vegan and allergen-free brewing programmes
- Reducing protein carryover into fermentation
- Improving filtration efficiency
- Reducing conditioning time and beer losses
