Pilot Brewing System
The Pilot Brewing System is a compact, skid-mounted 4-vessel brewhouse for recipe development, process testing, and quality control at pilot scale. Its vessel sequence and control architecture mirror those of our full-scale production systems, allowing process parameters to transfer directly to the production brewhouse without reformulation.
All vessels, pipework, pumps, plate heat exchanger, and instrumentation come pre-assembled on an integrated skid platform with no dead legs. Steam heating supports step-mashing and decoction processes, whilst whirlpool hopping and kettle souring capability are included as standard. A self-cleaning function provides hot water rinse and caustic/sanitiser CIP without manual disassembly.
Process Fidelity
-
01
Same Architecture as Production
The Pilot Brewing System mirrors the vessel sequence and control architecture of the full-scale production brewhouse, so process parameters developed at pilot scale can transfer directly without reformulation.
-
02
Full Brewing Capability
Step-mashing, decoction, whirlpool hopping, and kettle souring are all included as standard, allowing the full range of brewing techniques to be explored at pilot scale without compromise.
-
03
Precise Process Control
PLC and HMI control with manual valve override gives brewers the ability to run automated programmes or intervene at any stage, supporting both structured testing and exploratory brewing.
Hygiene & Operation
-
04
Self-Cleaning
A full self-cleaning function covers hot water rinse and caustic/sanitiser CIP across the entire system without manual disassembly, reducing turnaround time between brews.
-
05
No Dead Legs
Pipework and vessels are designed with no dead legs throughout, eliminating hygiene risk points and ensuring cleaning solutions reach every surface in the system.
-
06
Pre-Assembled and Ready to Run
All vessels, pipework, pumps, plate heat exchanger, and instrumentation are pre-assembled on a single skid platform, minimising installation work and allowing production to begin quickly.
Available configurations
-
Standard Pilot System
Four-vessel skid-mounted configuration, including mash cooker, mash tun, lauter tun, and kettle and whirlpool tank, at under 5 hL batch capacity. The baseline system for recipe development and process testing.
-
Custom Capacity
Available at capacities beyond the standard under-5 hL specification where larger pilot batches are required. Vessel sizing and skid layout adjusted to suit the target batch volume.
-
Custom Vessel Combination
For breweries with specific process requirements, e.g. single-vessel mash-lauter combinations, or additional holding vessels, the system can be configured to a non-standard vessel arrangement at order.
